This Week's Prayer and Random Act

This Week's Prayer: This week we celebrate Labor Day on Monday, September 1st and the Memorial of St. Gregory the Great on Wednesday, September 3rd.
“Saint Gregory the Great was born in Rome around the year 540. He rose through various public offices to the prefecture which he renounced. He entered the monastic life and, once ordained deacon, he discharged the duties of legate in Constantinople. On September 3, 590 he was elevated to the Chair of Saint Peter. He proved to be a true shepherd by carrying out his office,” (55).

St. Gregory the Great is also the patron saint of teachers. Let us pray the prayer that Jesus, our teacher, taught us:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

All saint information is taken from the MAGNIFICAT ®, Vol. 10, No. 7/ September 2008 (http://www.magnificat.com/index.asp)

This Week's Random Act: In honor of Labor Day, say an extra prayer for all the workers that strive to bring strength, prosperity, and well-being to our country  :)

Vision and Mission

The Youth Formation Program at Holy Cross Catholic Church seeks to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ, to draw young people to responsible participation in the life and work of the Catholic faith, and to foster totally the personal and spiritual growth of each young person. Through the weekly Youth Liturgy, Sacrament Preparation, the EDGE and Life Teen programs, service projects, and additional spiritual and communal events, we focus on building and maintaining a comprehensive faith formation program through the means of evangelization, catechesis, community life, pastoral care, justice and service, leadership development, advocacy, as well as prayer and worship. We strive to create a welcoming and safe environment where young people can learn, share, and mature together in faith and ultimately are enabled to become happy, healthy, and holy adults.

The Edge is a catechetical– based, Catholic Youth Formation program for middle school youth in grades 6, 7, and 8. The Edge group meets on a regular basis from September through April on Wednesday evenings and fosters the educational, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of middle school youth. Registration and payment are required.

The Life Teen “Life Night’s,” open to all high school teens, are catechetical-based and Eucharistic centered meetings that provide opportunities for teens to grow in their faith and in community. Educational, spiritual, and social components of each meeting provide widespread opportunities for each young person to share and mature in their Catholic faith. Registration is required to join the Life Teen program.
